1. Why does it matter if the teacher/coach is qualified or not?
It is not enough simply to have "danced professionally" or "won competitions". Teaching children requires specialist knowledge & training. A well qualified & experienced teacher will know each child & be able to assess their individual strengths and weaknesses. They should also be able to use a variety of different teaching methods to suit the learning capabilities of all the children in the class & will work at varying speeds to allow each child to flourish at his/her own pace. Qualified teachers will also be aware of injury prevention & child protection issues & will do everything possible to ensure your child's safety in class. Dance Leaders & Sports Coaching certificates, while useful for anyone interested in assisting in dance classes, are not acceptable teaching qualifications.
2. Are Dance Attack teachers/coaches qualified?
Yes, Dance Attack teachers are qualified with the British Association of Teachers of Dance and are qualified coaches & adjudicators with the World Cheerleading Association In addition Katie Arthur is a member of the Professional Guild of Dance Teachers & the United Kingdom Alliance. Katie Arthur has been teaching children & adults of all abilities since passing her first teaching exam in 1987 & Amy Tennant qualified in 2004. Even with this amount of experience we still continue to keep up with the latest teaching methods, ideas & of course the newest moves in the dance world!
3. How many children should be in each class?
This depends very much on the age, ability & behaviour of the class & the ratio of children to adults. However, what is extremely important is that the age gap between the children is not too wide. At Dance Attack our pupils are all taught within a class of their own age group. A child of age 10 for example will need very different teaching to a teenager of, say, 15.
4. How can I find out more about my dance teacher/cheer coach?
Your childs teacher/cheer coach should be happy to show their relevant qualification certificates and information about him/her should be easily available. At Dance Attack, we proudly display our qualifications on our studio wall. You can contact Katie Arthur on 0794 987 6403 .
5. Where is Dance Attack?
